Welcome back to the second year of our partnership with the Canon City Wrestling Club. This team up has allowed our youth to develop and participate in youth wrestling at their own speed. All rec wrestlers will begin in the Black Group (Novice) and practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. However, if the coaches determine the kid is ready to move up based on skill, then they may be moved to the Gold Group (Experienced) and practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This determination will be made after an initial couple of practices with everyone in the novice class and throughout the year. 

The youth wrestling program is for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 (14 year olds must only be in 8th grade) who wish to learn the fundamentals of wrestling.  Wrestlers learn escapes, take downs, rides, and many more moves.  Children will wrestle other children of similar size and ability.

Practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Canon City High School wrestling room.  Practice days are subject to change and practices over the holiday breaks will be announced by the coaches.

With this partnership, comes the opportunity to wrestle in more tournaments beside the intramural tournament at the end of the season. These tournaments do carry an additional fee, however, no child is required to attend any.

REGISTRATION:

AGES:

• Black (Novice) Mondays and Wednesdays 6:15pm - 7:30pm
• Gold (Experienced) Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:15pm - 7:30pm

***ALL REC PARTICIPANTS WILL START IN BLACK AND ONLY BE MOVED BY COACHES AND PARENTS MUTUAL AGREEMENT AFTER THE FIRST WEEK***

***Doors will not open until 6pm at Door 18 by the football practice field. Space is very limited so we ask parents to please drop off and not crowd the wrestling room.***

*Practices during Thanksgiving break will be announced at a later date*
