Pool Documents
On August 24, 2026 the Recreation District Board of Directors and Cañon City Council both approved an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) on how the existing 0.3% pool sales tax funding would be used and managed if the voters approved the new ballot language. This IGA provides specifics as to how the money will be divided up between construction and operations, while ensuring all TABOR requirements are met. The IGA also clarifies that it will be for a seasonal pool, and not a year-round facility. It will be a smaller project than the one proposed in 2024. The approved IGA is available for download below.

The new ballot language for the existing 0.3% sales tax was approved by City Council at the August 24, 2026 meeting as well. The reason another vote is required by citizens is related to TABOR. The use of the sales tax will add operations, and therefore requires voter approval. You may download the ballot language below.
