Melissa Smeins moved to Canon City in 2001. She earned an MS in Geology from the University of Colorado in 2005 and has been working as a Geologist with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for 20 years. In 2020, Melissa began working as a Project Manager for the BLM on the Bonita Peak Mining District Superfund Site in Silverton, CO. Melissa enjoys working for the BLM for the great opportunities to get outdoors and make a positive impact on the environment.
When not working, Melissa spends time with her husband John and two children Brooke and Bryce, enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, skiing, and rafting.
